Today we went to the Elora Gorge Conservation Area with the whole family for a family fun-filled day. The day was incredible with temperatures in the upper 27 degrees C (80 degrees F). Aside from a frightening moment where Bruno almost fell off a ledge into the gorge (we were lucky to have him on leash!!) the day was simply AWESOME!! Towards the end of the day, we settled on a nearby green area to rest and I decided to take some portraits of my wife and Bruno. Finally, Marcela my sister-in-law took the ones of all of us together. Life is Beautiful – This is why!
As a photographer, I get to see and experience life through my lenses. If you think about it, it is somewhat of a confined point of view even when the other eye is open. But something magical or even mystical occurs when I capture moments such as the one below of my beloved God-son. The joy found in his expression as my brother-in-law pours snow over him is priceless! We often don’t appreciate these moments because they occur in the blink of an eye and when we do see them, they fall back into our memory banks sometimes to be forever stored. But in a mystical sort of way, his expression is captured forever and our minds and hearts can now be reminded that because of these moments, life is beautiful and should always be Cherished. There is nothing sweeter than the smile and the joy of a child, and as a photographer, there is no greater blessing than to capture those moments.

The Joys of Being a Child
The other day, Andrea and I were blessed with a visit from our beloved God-son, Armando Nicolas or “Mimi” as we call him. His mother, Marcela, is a wonderful Real Estate Agent in the region and left him with us to attend a conference for the day. We love having Mimi around because he has such an incredible energy! Mimi is a class act! He’s in that stage of life were he just won’t stop talking, is curious about the world, and finds everything to be incredibly funny! It’s amazing how simple life really is in the eyes of children.

Andre and I had the entire day planned. First, we would go to the pool, then ice skating (or skating, as they call it here in Canada, lol), and finally come back home to wait for mommy. Well, Mimi had such a blast in the pool that when we arrived home, he fell asleep!
After a great meal of Mac and Cheese, Mimi found Andrea’s nursing graduation hat and stethoscope. Forget skating! Mimi wanted to play doctor! It was so much fun watching Mimi try to figure out how to use the stethoscope and listen to Andrea’s heart on her stomach! Maybe Mimi will become a doctor one day; by then, he will definitely know where the heart is!
Can’t wait to have Mimi back for another visit!!!
New Year • New City • New Image
It’s a new year and there are so many things to be grateful for! I’m personally grateful for having an amazing family with the most loving wife and the cutest dog! The road through which I will walk 2010 is full of adventures. I’m looking forward to discovering my new home, Canada, and befriending my fellow Canadians! Canada is just awesome and the more I get to know it, the more I fall in love with it!
