Last weekend, while in Canada, my wife and I went to Kitchener to celebrate my birthday and hang out with the in-laws. On Monday morning, I had the opportunity to photograph the Dueñas Family and their beautiful girls.
You may remember I posted an image of them a few days ago. If not, click here.
We headed over to Victoria Park and I was able to capture the girls as they are. I think that the best way to photograph children is to let them be themselves without worrying about pose; this is where photography captures their true essence.
The girls had a great time modeling in front of the camera and running around trying to feed the Ducks and Geese. I had a fantastic time capturing the girls and although it was no easy task keeping up with them, it was certainly fun. Oh did I mention that I I got Geese and Duck poop all over me? Yep! While photographing some of the girls, I knew I had to lay down on the grass to get those great shots, so I did just that, except that the grass in that area was full of poop. I got home all smelly, but proud of my images! LOL!!
Please enjoy the images below and the slideshow!

A group shot of the beautiful girls. I love how the little one imitates her sister! She was so cute!

A shot of the proud parents:

Thank you Miguel and Sandra for allowing me to capture your beautiful family.
On my last day in Canada, I was very fortunate of photographing the Dueñas Family. Below is just one of my favorite images. More will come tomorrow! Enjoy!

Growing up with clients is a very special gift I often enjoy because of my profession. Little Alex and his family are no exception! I photographed his first birthday party last year and now I have the honor of doing it again! I enjoy photographing children parties because of the spontaneity of their behavior. By entering into their world, I am able to sit back and capture the most spontaneous moments without interfering with them directly. Alex’s birthday was celebrated at Gymboree just as last year. Coincidentally, we even got the same hostess as last year, she was super fun! Please enjoy some of my favorite images below as well as the gallery!
Alex’s birthday was themed around Curious George! The cake was really cool, having Curious George on a plane, by the candles, and under some palm trees! Below is one of Curious George with the birthday candle.

Here is one of Curious George on an airplane!

The birthday boy below having some fun!

Dressed up as Curious George!

Here is Alex with his Dad! The great thing about Gymboree is that parents also enjoy time with their children.

Willmarge and Rodolfo, thank you for making me part of your life and see your son grow!
One one of my recent trips to Canada to visit my beautiful girl, my sister-in-law and her lovely family asked me for some family portraits. As the proud God-father of their first and only child (so far!!!), Armando Nicolas, I accepted the honor! We headed over Victoria park in Kitchener on a gorgeous Fall day to take the photographs below. I am blessed to have a beautiful family and to be the God-Father of Armandito.
Many parents grow impatient when taking photographs of their children because they expect them to know how to model from the start. I’m a firm believer that the best way to capture a child’s image is to let him be on his own; to let him/her absorb the environment. Armandito chose to sit by this metal boat after a bit of play. His image is relaxed and expressive all at once, which makes a great portrait.

In the image below, Armando Jr. let go of his parents hands and came running straight at me. Of course, I couldn’t let go of this extraordinary opportunity to capture the action, making this image my favorite one of the collection.

Thank you Marcela and Armando Sr. for the wonderful time and allowing me to capture your wonderful family!! I love you guys!
When Maide called me to book her maternity session, she expressed her desire to have images completely “out-of-the-box”! Of course, once I heard such words my mind exploded into many different ideas and I became utterly excited! As the day approached, I became convinced that obtaining “out-of-the-box” images required an “out-of-the-box” place; therefore, I chose South Beach! We warmed up the session by taking images close to the water while making our way in-land. I hope you enjoy this really cool maternity session!

That’s right! They were right in the middle of the street!!! They were so cool!

My favorite image of the entire collection is found below! Notice her eyes and his expression as they seem to have been frozen in time in the busy Lincoln Road.
